Bouviers des Flandres

Hip dysplasia – All breeding stock should be X-rayed at 2 years of age and certified clear of hip dysplasia.

Eyes – occasional problems with PRA, but it is rare.

Heart – heart disease and early heart attacks may be a problem.

Bone and joint problems – While not a genetic problem, they often occur due to their size, and may especially have problems with damaged or ruptured cruciate ligaments.

Cancer – Some lines more prone to this than others but this is generally a problem throughout the breed.

Thyroid problems – This is not overly common but under active thyroid problems have been known.
